Kelly’s Bake Shoppe is a quaint, storybook-type one-of-a-kind bake shoppe, located in the heart of downtown Burlington, Ontario, which is also known as the second best place to live in all of Canada. Kelly’s is owned by a mother and daughter team, Kelly Childs and Erin Weatherbie. People from all over visit Kelly’s Bake Shoppe to indulge in their decadent, 100% vegan sweets and treats. Cookies, cupcakes, donuts, brownies, cakes, cookie sandwiches, even ice cream – Kelly’s has it all, all in vegan form! The bakery features a prep and baking area that is open to the public, as well as a freezer to grab treats in a rush, and of course a little café area where guests can sit down and take a break while they enjoy the cute pink and white décor of the Shoppe, all while they watch the magic of Kelly’s whip up their sweet treats and watch the city go by through one of the large glass windows. Kelly’s is open every day of the week, except for Mondays, but the busiest time to visit is definitely weekends, that place will be bustling, guaranteed! Kelly’s is a popular and top chosen bakery in Burlington and throughout North America because they are 100% vegan (harm no animals) and they offer healthy alternatives of all ingredients and products, so people will go the extra mile (quite literally) for not only the kindest, best customer service, but to indulge with the peace of mind that they are doing so healthily, ethically.

Before I walk in to Kelly’s I can always smell the aroma of their signature snickerdoodle cookies, my personal favourite which never fails to put a smile on my face and excite me as if I was a five year old on Christmas morning. I also find it not only super cool, be so assuring in taste & quality that last time I visited I met people asking about shipping goods from Kelly’s to California AND England, they only ship across Canada and do some Eastern states at this time! Anyways, upon walking into the shoppe the aroma only intensifies and the bright pink boxes on the wall catch your eyes as you try to choose which area of sweets you’ll check out first, my go-to is the cookie display! Kelly’s is something like I’ve never seen before because it’s so quaint, like it’s out of a dream, to cute to be real! And for someone who has struggles with their eating and many allergies, the fact that everything in the bakery is vegan and uses ingredients that are “the healthiest option” for you eases my mind and makes enjoying sweets exactly that – enjoyable, not frightening like sweets once were to me.

Now here’s some cool facts about Kelly’s Bake Shoppe that not just anyone will be able to tell you! In my opinon, Sundays are the best time to visit because that’s the day EVERY FLAVOUR cupcake and cookie is being made, although you have to be willing to endure some pretty big crowds (aka fans, really!)

Kelly Childs and Erin Weatherbie also own a restaurant called Lettuce Love Café located just one street over from their bakery, it is another 100% vegan, healthy alternatives joint in the heart of our downtown! Kelly and Erin has also written their own book called Made with Love, that shares the health benefits that turned them and their family vegan and best of all, the book spills multiple mouth-watering recipes straight out of Kelly’s Bake Shoppe AND Lettuce Love Café! Also, since the bakery is located right downtown, there’s plenty of parking along the street and there’s actually a parking lot right beside and also one directly behind Kelly’s Bake Shoppe, which both offer free parking on weekends!

Another perk of being downtown is the waterfront looking on to beautiful Lake Ontario is right at the end of Brant street, the street on which Kelly’s is located, it is here you can stroll along the walk way of Spencer Smith park, even make your way down the brand new pier or dine at the modern, upscale restaurant looking on to the lake, Spencer’s. If that’s not your thing you could cross the street to visit the Art Gallery of Burlington or catch a show just down the street at the (also brand new) Burlington Performing Arts Centre. So when you’re at Kelly’s, there’s really no doubt that you’ll find yourself caught up in more than one attraction of the beautiful city of Burlington!
